The Miami Heat need more from James Posey

Blogged under Bloglockers,Injuries,Need to step up by alleyoop on Thursday 12 April 2007 at 1:44 pm

James Posey has been pretty awful so far in April for the Heat.  He’s played in 7 games and he’s averaged 6.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.  Posey is only shooting 33.3% from the floor and he’s only hit 4 of 15 (26.7%) from three point range.  The Heat really will need Posey’s shooting to return if they are to make a deep run into the playoffs this season.

Shaquille O’Neal steppin’ up for the Miami Heat as the playoffs approach

Blogged under Bloglockers,Injuries,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 10 April 2007 at 1:44 pm

Shaquille O’Neal has really played well the last two weeks for the Miami Heat as he’s helped them overcome the Washington Wizards in the division, which will set the Heat up with a nice seed to defend their NBA Title.  Over his last 7 games, O’Neal has averaged 18.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 blocked shots.  He’s hit 60.7% of his field goal attempts, but only 34.5% from the free-throw line.  Teams better look out for the Heat in the playoffs with Dwayne Wade back and Shaq hungry for another ring.

The Heat are closing in on the Raptors for the #3 seed in the Eastern Conference as they are only 1 game behind the Toronto Raptors.  The Heat are 42-34 on the season and have a 3 game lead on the Washington Wizards for the Southeast Division lead.  Jason Kapano and Gary Payton have both returned from injury and Dwyane Wade is ready to return soon, so the Heat could be at full strength for the playoffs which is trouble for the rest of the Eastern Conference.
