The Miami Heat sign Mike Bibby

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by admin on Wednesday 2 March 2011 at 8:51 pm

The Miami Heat will sign 32-year old point guard Mike Bibby tonight when he clears waivers.  He will likely step right into the starting lineup at point guard for the Heat.  Bibby played in 58 games (56 starts) for the Wizards & Hawks in which he averaged 29.4 minutes, 9.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.  Bibby has now played in 940 games (934 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 34.9 minutes, 15.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game.  This is a great move for the Heat as they have had issues at point guard all season long.

The Miami Heat waive Carlos Arroyo

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by admin on Wednesday 2 March 2011 at 1:22 am

The Miami Heat have waived 31-year old point guard Carlos Arroyo.  Arroyo played in 49 games (42 starts) for the Heat this season and he averaged 20.3 minutes, 5.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.  Arroyo also hit 43.8% from the three point line in this game, and the Heat might miss that about him.  Arroyo played in 121 games (76 starts) in his two years with the Heat and he averaged 21.3 minutes, 5.9 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.  The Heat got rid of Arroyo because they think Mike Bibby is going to sign with them later tonight.

The Miami Heat sign Jerry Stackhouse

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Saturday 23 October 2010 at 9:38 pm

The Heat have signed 35-year old SG/SF Jerry Stackhouse. Stackhouse played in 42 games (0 starts) for the Bucks last season and he averaged 20.4 minutes, 8.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He has now played in 896 games (563 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 32.8 minutes, 18.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Stackhouse’s skills don’t match up well with the ones the Heat lost due to Mike Miller’s injury. But, I still like this signing for them as Stackhouse showed last season that he still has a little bit left in his gas tank.

The Miami Heat ink Eddie House to a deal

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Thursday 29 July 2010 at 4:46 pm

The Miami Heat have signed 32-year old shooting guard Eddie House to a 2-year, $2.8 million dollar deal. House played in 68 games (0 starts) for the Knicks and Celtics last season and he averaged 17.9 minutes, 7.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He has now played in 661 games (30 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 17.3 minutes, 7.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. House has shot 39% from three point range in his career as he comes off the bench shooting the ball. This was another solid signing for the Miami Heat.

The Miami Heat re-sign Shavlik Randolph

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Tuesday 27 July 2010 at 3:43 pm

The Miami Heat have re-signed 26-year old forward Shavlik Randolph. Randolph played in 3 games (0 starts) with the Heat last season and he averaged 15.7 minutes, 3.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. He has now played in 95 games (7 starts) in his five years in the NBA and he has averaged 8.2 minutes, 2.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Randolph will be sitting at the end of the bench in 2010-11 for the Heat and he won’t be a factor for the Heat unless they suffer quite a few injuries.

UPDATE: (10/20/2010) – The Heat have released Shavlik Randolph.

Carlos Arroyo re-signs with the Miami Heat

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Friday 23 July 2010 at 12:26 am

30-year old point guard Carlos Arroyo has re-signed with the Heat but the terms of the deal were not disclosed. Arroyo played in 72 games (34 starts) for the Heat last year and he averaged 22.0 minutes, 6.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. He has now played in 505 games (147 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 18.7 minutes, 6.9 points, 1.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. The Heat were smart to bring back Arroyo as he is a solid pass first point guard.

The Miami Heat sign Juwan Howard

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Monday 19 July 2010 at 9:55 am

The Heat have signed 37-year old power forward Juwan Howard. The details of the contract have yet to be released. Howard played in 73 games (27 starts) for the Blazers last season and he averaged 22.4 minutes, 6.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. He has now played in 1,116 games (898 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 32.1 minutes, 14.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Howard is #43 all-time in the NBA in games played with 1,116. He also is #76 in rebounds with 7,251 and he’s #89 in points scored with 15,957 in NBA history. Howard only has 706 points more than LeBron James despite being 12 years older than him. I like this signing for the Heat who will be happy if Howard plays as well as he did last season in Portland.

The Miami Heat re-sign Jamaal Magloire

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Saturday 17 July 2010 at 1:15 pm

The Miami Heat have signed 32-year old center Jamaal Magloire to a 1-year deal worth the league minimum. Magloire played in 36 games (0 starts) for the Heat last season and he averaged 10.0 minutes, 2.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He has now played in 628 games (313 starts) in his 10-year career in the NBA and he has averaged 22.4 minutes, 7.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. This was a solid signing for the Heat as Magloire is a good guy to have coming off the bench.

The Miami Heat re-sign Joel Anthony

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Friday 16 July 2010 at 8:11 pm

The Miami Heat have re-signed 27-year old PF/C Joel Anthony to a 5-year, $18 million dollar deal. Anthony played in 80 games (16 starts) last season for the Heat and he averaged 16.5 minutes, 2.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 0.2 assists and 1.4 blocked shots per game. He has now played in 169 games (45 starts) in his three years with the Heat and he has averaged 17.0 minutes, 2.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.2 assists and 1.4 blocked shots per game. This was a good move for the Heat as Anthony will provide them with rebounding and defense near the basket.

The Miami Heat sign Zydrunas Ilgauskas to a 2-year deal

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Tuesday 13 July 2010 at 3:20 pm

LeBron James convinced 35-year old center Zydrunas Ilgauskas to come to Miami and play for the Heat. He has signed a 2-year, $2.8 million dollar contract to chase a ring in Miami. Ilgauskas played in 64 games (6 starts) for the Cavaliers last season and he averaged 20.9 minutes, 7.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. He has now played in 771 games (673 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 28.3 minutes, 13.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.6 blocked shots per game. It’s very possible that big Z could be the starting center for the Heat which would allow Chris Bosh to stay at power forward. This was a outstanding signing for the Heat.
