Joel Anthony needs to do a little more for the Miami Heat

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Monday 30 January 2012 at 2:03 pm

29-year old center Joel Anthony just stays out of the way offensively as almost all of his points come off putbacks and dunks.  That being said, he needs to do more as opposing teams usually have a huge edge at center when playing the Heat.  Tyson Chandler made them pay for that in the NBA Finals last year and other teams are starting to take notice.  Anthony has played in 20 games (all starts) so far this year for the Heat and he is averaging 22.2 minutes, 3.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 0.2 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game.  When the games get bigger later in the year, they are going to need more production both offensively and defensively out of Anthony.

The Heat outlasted the pesky Bulls in Miami yesterday.  LeBron James led the way for the Heat yesterday with 35 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 blocked shot.  Chris Bosh also had a very solid game for the Heat with 24 points, 12 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Dwyane Wade only shot 4 of 16 from the floor but he still finished up with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  The Heat are now 15-5 on the year.

Miami Heat 99, New York Knicks 89

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Saturday 28 January 2012 at 9:12 pm

The Heat got D-Wade back and they held the Knicks to 35.7% shooting from the floor, which helps explain the nice home win last night.  LeBron James led the way for the Heat in this game with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.  Dwyane Wade filled up the stat sheet with 28 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocked shots last night.  Chris Bosh only shot 4 of 18 from the floor last night as he finished up with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists.  The Heat are now 14-5 on the year.

Shane Battier has been a bust for the Miami Heat so far this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Friday 27 January 2012 at 2:43 pm

33-year old SG/SF Shane Battier was supposed to be the big free agent signing for the Heat after the lockout was lifted, but he has been a huge bust so far this year!  Battier has played in 18 games (4 starts) for the Heat so far this year and he is averaging 23.5 minutes, 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.  He is only shooting 27 of 81 (33.3%) from the floor and 15 of 49 (30.6%) from three point range so far this year, and that is pathetic for a player with the reputation that he has.

Chris Bosh is stepping up big time for the Miami Heat

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 27 January 2012 at 2:40 pm

27-year old power forward Chris Bosh has really stepped up since D-Wade went down with an ankle injury.  In his last six games, Bosh is averaging 26.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game.  Bosh has now played in 18 games (all starts) for the Heat so far this year and he is averaging 36.6 minutes, 21.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.0 steal per game.  Bosh is shooting a red hot 54.7% from the floor so far this year and that is outstanding.  He looks more like the player he was in Toronto so far this year, and that’s a good thing for the Heat.

Miami Heat 101, Detroit Pistons 98

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Thursday 26 January 2012 at 6:04 pm

The Heat shot 52.1% from the floor last night and it was a big reason for the win over the Pistons who outrebounded Miami 43-26!  LeBron James (32 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals) and Chris Bosh (27 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal on 12 of 15 shooting from the floor) led the way for the Heat in this game.  Mario Chalmers (16 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal) and Mike Miller (10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot) also pitched in for the Heat last night.  The Heat are now 13-5 on the season.

Miami Heat 92, Cleveland Cavaliers 85

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Thursday 26 January 2012 at 12:41 am

The Miami Heat had to be overlooking the Cavs last night as they had to fight until the bitter end to hold them off.  Chris Bosh was the main reason the Heat won last night as he led the way with 35 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot.  LeBron James looked pretty disinterested last night as he shot 8 of 21 from the floor and he had 5 turnovers.  James finished up with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals last night.  Norris Cole pitched in with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist in 28 minutes on the floor.  The Heat are now 12-5 on the year.
