Shane Battier has been a bust for the Miami Heat so far this year
33-year old SG/SF Shane Battier was supposed to be the big free agent signing for the Heat after the lockout was lifted, but he has been a huge bust so far this year! Battier has played in 18 games (4 starts) for the Heat so far this year and he is averaging 23.5 minutes, 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. He is only shooting 27 of 81 (33.3%) from the floor and 15 of 49 (30.6%) from three point range so far this year, and that is pathetic for a player with the reputation that he has.
Respectfully disagree. He’s hit some timely 3s, key defensive stop vs Atanta, and superb defense against Kobe. He’s done some good things for us in this short season. Especially when you consider no training camp, and an early injury. I believe he’ll be very good for us deeper in the regular season and playoffs. Would I like his shots to be more consistent, of course!!! But he has nowhere near been a bust.
I don’t think Battier has lived up to his advance billing. He has been an average NBA player at best in his NBA career so far. I don’t think no training camp is a good excuse, because none of the players in the NBA had one. Maybe he will get into a shooting groove later in the year, but right now….he is not helping the team much. So we agree to disagree Byron….but it’s America and that is what makes our country great.
