The Heat played good defense last night but the offense crumbled late in the game.  LeBron James led the way for the Heat last night with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 1 blocked  shot.  But, when the Heat needed him to take the big shot….he folded up like a tent like he usually does.  Chris Bosh had one of his better games of the season as he finished up with 20 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot.  Dwyane Wade only shot 5 of 15 from the floor in this game as he finished up with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 steals.  Mike Miller pitched in with 10 points and 4 rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench.  The Heat are now 43-17 on the year.

It’s all starting to click for the Miami Heat

The Miami Heat have not been able to solve the Boston Celtics yet (they are 0-3 against them) but other than that they have been rolling lately.  The Heat are now 41-15 on the season which has them in first place in the Southeast Division, 5.5 games ahead of the Orlando Magic.  The Heat are tied with the Celtics atop of the Eastern Conference but they can take the foot off the pedal as the Bulls are only 2 games behind them.

BIGGEST SURPRISE:  35-year old Zydrunas Ilgauskas became the Heat’s starting center early this season and he has done a good job for them.  Big Z has played in 56 games (47 starts) for the Heat so far this year and he is averaging 17.0 minutes, 5.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.  Ilguaskas can still shoot as he is hitting 51.6% of his shots from the floor and 78% from the free throw line so far this year.  The Heat need Z to keep up the good work.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT:  The Heat gave 31-year old SG/SF Mike Miller a nice contract over the summer.  He missed a huge part of the early season as he needed thumb surgery but he just hasn’t been the player the Heat thought they were getting since coming back.  Miller has played in 22 games (2 starts) for the Heat so far this year and he is averaging 19.3 minutes, 5.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.  If Miller gets back to the player he used to be, the rest of the NBA will be in deep trouble.

The Heat ran into the kryptonite once again yesterday in Boston as the Celtics beat them for the third time in a row this year.  Chris Bosh led the way for the Heat in this game with 24 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  LeBron James finished up with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 1 steal yesterday but he missed a key foul shot late in the game and of course he wanted no part of the last shot of the game.  Dwyane Wade finished up with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists yesterday but he only shot 6 of 17 from the floor and he had 6 turnovers.  The Heat are now 39-15 on the year.
