30-year old SG/SF  Mike Miller is finally showing signs of life for the Miami Heat.  In his last three games, Miller is averaging 32.0 minutes, 14.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.  He has now played in 13 games (2 starts) so far this year for the Heat and he is averaging 16.7 minutes, 4.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.  His stroke has been off so far this year as he is only hitting 34.9% of his shots from the floor and 25.8% from the three point line so far this year.   For the Heat to click on all cylinders, they need Miller to start playing like the player he used to be.

The Heat played good defense in holding the Pistons to 38% from the floor but they still had to outscore them 24-19 in the 4th quarter to beat them.  LeBron James led the way for the Heat last night with 39 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots.  Eddie House made the game winning free throws for the Heat last night and he finished with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal in only 28 minutes on the floor.  Mike Miller only shot 4 of 12 from the floor but he still finished up with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.  The Heat are now 32-14 on the year.

The Miami Heat are making a change at point guard

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Wednesday 26 January 2011 at 12:01 am

Carlos Arroyo will be coming off the bench for the time being with Mario Chalmers starting at the point.  Arroyo has played in 43 games (42 starts) so far this year for the Heat and he is averaging 22.2 minutes, 6.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.  Arroyo is shooting 45.9% from three point range so far this year, so while his playing time will be cut, he’ll still likely get his share of minutes.  Mario Chalmers has a higher upside than Arroyo does.  He has played in 38 games (2 starts) so far this year for the Heat and he is averaging 21.1 minutes, 6.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game.  He is only shooting 39.1% from the floor and 37.8% from three point range so far this year, and that will have to improve if he wants to keep his starting gig.  In his last five games, Chalmers is averaging 32.4 minutes, 11.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game.  If Chalmers keeps playing like he is right now, he might be able to hold off Carlos Arroyo the rest of  the year.

The Miami Heat finally admit that Chris Bosh has a high ankle sprain

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries,Need to step up by admin on Tuesday 25 January 2011 at 11:55 pm

Starting power forward Chris Bosh is going to miss some significant playing time due to a high ankle sprain.  Bosh has played in 42 games (all starts) for the Heat so far this year and he is averaging 35.5 minutes, 18.6 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.  The Heat are going to miss Bosh’s offfense but they might even be better on defense.  That is because Joel Anthony will continue to start at get big minutes while Bosh is out of action.  In his last three games, Anthony is averaging 38.7 minutes, 1.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 3.3 blocked shots per game.  He has only shot 5 times in those three games.  Anthony has now played in 41 games (10 starts) for the Heat so far this year and he is averaging 19.7 minutes, 1.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 1.5 blocked shots per game.  Juwan Howard will also likely see increased P.T. while Bosh is out of action.  Howard has played in 35 games (0 starts) for the Heat so far this year and he is averaging 11.5 minutes, 2.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.  The Heat need Bosh to get back soon because the offense is going to likely really suffer without him.

Miami Heat 120, Toronto Raptors 103

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Sunday 23 January 2011 at 2:20 pm

The Heat shot 52.5% from the floor and they outrebouned the Raptors 42-33 last night to surge to an impressive victory despite not having D-Wade and Chris Bosh due to injury.  LeBron James really stepped up last night to lead the way for the Heat with 38 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot.  Mike Miller finally played up to his ability and beyond last night as he hit 12 of 18 shots from the floor (6 of 11 from three point range) to finish up with 32 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal.  James Jones (15 points), Eddie House (13 points) and Mario Chalmers (10 points) also pitched in for the Heat last night.  The Heat are now 31-13 on the year.

Atlanta Hawks 93, Miami Heat 89 in O.T.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Wednesday 19 January 2011 at 2:35 pm

The Heat only shot 36.4% from the floor and they were outscored 16-12 in O.T. which were the big reasons for the loss last night.  LeBron James led the way for the Heat with 34 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals last night.  But, he only shot 11 of 30 from the floor and he had 6 turnovers so he was far from perfect last night.  Dwyane Wade also filled up the stat sheet with 27 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  But, like James, D-Wade was far from perfect too as he shot 8 of 20 from the floor to go along with his six turnovers.  Eddie House (12 points) and Mario Chalmers (10 points) also pitched in offensively for the Heat last night.  Joel Anthony got the start at power forward last night for an injured Chris Bosh but he didn’t score in 43 minutes on the court as he didn’t even take one shot!  He did have 16 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 blocked shots though.  The Heat are now 30-13 on the season and they have not won a game since LeBron made fun of his old team in Twitter.

Chicago Bulls 99, Miami Heat 96

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Monday 17 January 2011 at 2:13 am

The Bulls outrebounded the Heat 42-30 and it was a big problem for them in the game last night.  Dwyane Wade almost willed the Heat to victory last night with 33 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocked shots.  Chris Bosh had 17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 blocked shot before leaving the game with a ankle injury (more Karma LeBron?).  Eddie House (13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists) and Mario Chalmers (10 points) also helped out off the bench for the Heat last night.  The Heat are now 30-12 on the year.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Friday 14 January 2011 at 2:55 pm

The Miami Heat were ambushed in Denver last night as they never had a chance in this game!  Chris Bosh led the way for the Heat in this game with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists.  Dwyane Wade only shot 7 of 19 from the floor as he finished up with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 blocked shot.  Eddie House (15 points, 1 rebound and 2 assists in 17 minutes), Mario Chalmers (14 points) and Carlos Arroyo (10 points) also pitched in for the Heat last night.  The Heat are now 30-11 on the season but 0-2 since LeBron ran his mouth about his old team.
