The Miami Heat lose Udonis Haslem for a while

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Tuesday 23 November 2010 at 11:28 am

The Heat will be without 30-year old power forward Udonis Haslem until at least the All-Star Break after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left foot. Haslem has played in 13 games (0 starts) for the Heat so far this year and he is averaging 26.5 minutes, 8.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. Haslem does all of the dirty work for the Heat and he has done so since coming to the team as a undrafted free agent. Haslem has now played in 530 games (386 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 30.8 minutes, 10.0 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. The Heat is going to have to have someone step up to replace Haslem.

LeBron James is not living up to the hype for the Miami Heat

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by alleyoop on Wednesday 10 November 2010 at 6:16 pm

LeBron James looks nothing like the player the Heat thought they were getting when they lured him away from Cleveland. James has played in 8 games (all starts) for the Heat so far this year and he is averaging 36.6 minutes, 20.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 8.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.0 blocked shot per game. James has not been shooting the ball well either this year as he is only hitting 44.2% of his shots from the floor and a truly awful 33.3% from the three point line. The Heat are screwing up by playing him at point guard as he played his best basketball with the Cavs when he didn’t have to bring the ball up the court.

The Miami Heat is still Dwyane Wade’s basketball team

The Miami Heat is still D-Wade’s team and he has been the best player on the team so far this year, without a doubt. Wade has played in 8 games (all starts) for the Heat so far this year and he is averaging 34.4 minutes, 26.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.6 assists and 1.0 blocked shot per game. Wade is also shooting well from everywhere on the floor so far this year as he is hitting 49.3% from the floor, 42.3% from the three point line and 77.2% from the free throw line. He is the unquestioned leader of the Heat and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

New Orleans Hornets 96, Miami Heat 93

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by alleyoop on Saturday 6 November 2010 at 4:39 pm

The Heat just didn’t play good enough to win last night in New Orleans, period. Dwyane Wade led the way for the Heat once again last night with 28 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. LeBron James only shot 6 of 16 from the floor as he finished up with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists, 3 steals and 1 blocked shot. Chris Bosh was soft once again with 15 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist in 34 minutes on the floor. Zydrunas Ilgauskas pitched in with 10 points and 3 rebounds in 5 of 6 shooting from the floor in 22 minutes. The Heat are now 4-2 on the season.

Miami Heat 129, Minnesota Timberwolves 97

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by alleyoop on Wednesday 3 November 2010 at 2:21 pm

The Miami Heat shot 58.2% from the floor last night while holding the T-Wolves to 36.9% from the floor which were two big reasons why the Heat made short work of the T-Wolves in this game. Dwyane Wade led the way for the Heat last night with 26 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist in only 24 minutes last night as he shot 12 of 17 from the floor. LeBron James finished up with 20 points, 0 rebounds, 12 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot in this game. James Jones shot 5 of 9 from three point range as he finished up with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist. Eddie House was a perfect 4 for 4 from three point range last night as he finished up with 15 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals last night. The Heat are now 4-1 on the year.

Chris Bosh needs to pick up the pace for the Miami Heat

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 2 November 2010 at 6:36 pm

26-year old power forward Chris Bosh needs to start getting tough under the basket. He has started all four games for the Heat so far this year and he is averaging 33.0 minutes, 13.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocked shot per game. The Heat need Bosh to provide the same kind of muscle that he did in Toronto because they are a tad light under the basket both offensively and defensively.

Miami Heat 101, New Jersey Nets 78

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by alleyoop on Monday 1 November 2010 at 3:25 pm

The Heat shot 53.7% from the floor while holding the Nets to 35.3% shooting from the floor which explains the ease of this win on the road yesterday. The Heat were leading this game 85-61 heading into the 4th quarter before calling off the dogs. LeBron James on shot 5 of 12 from the floor and he turned the ball over 5 times but he still finished up with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Chris Bosh shot 8 of 10 from the floor as he finished up with 18 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot. D-Wade was also very active finishing with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot yesterday. Carlos Arroyo (12 points), Zydruanas Ilgauskas (10 points) and Eddie House (11 points) also pitched in offensively in this game for the Heat. The Heat are now 3-1 on the year.
