Shavlik Randolph is coming to training camp with the Miami Heat

25-year old forward Shavlik Randolph will try to make the Heats’ roster in training camp. He played in 10 games (0 starts) for the Blazers last season and he averaged 3.7 minutes, 1.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. Randolph has now played in 89 games (7 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 8.2 minutes, 2.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Randolph should make the Heat if he can just stay healthy which has been a huge problem to this point of his NBA career.

Michael Beasley released from rehab, works out with Miami Heat

The Miami Heat’s number two draft pick of the 2008 NBA draft, Michael Beasley, was released from rehab this weekend.  Beasley, who made headlines a few weeks ago with suicidal twitter posts, had apparently been battling depression as well as problems with drugs and alcohol abuse.  The talented forward worked out with some Miami Heat teammates today at the Heat’s practice facility.  The Heat have told Beasley and the public that they support and are behind the young man, and hopefully Beasley can get his life and then his basketball career back on track.  The Heat will need Beasley to make an impact this year if they want to be successful.  They also need him to be successful, so he can be one of the reasons for Dwayne Wade to resign with the Heat when Wade becomes a free-agent in 2010.

The Miami Heat will look the same at point guard this season

Blogged under General, NFL Blogs, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 19 September 2009 at 5:44 pm

The Miami Heat will go with 23-year old Mario Chalmers and 25-year old Chris Quinn at point guard again this season. Chalmers played in 82 games last season for the Heat and he averaged 32.0 minutes, 10.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He has room to improve his game with experience. Chris Quinn is a good shooter but not much else. He played in 66 games for the Heat last season and he averaged 14.6 minutes, 5.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game last season. He doesn’t have much upside as what you see is what you get.

The Miami Heat aren’t doing much to improve the team

SG Dwyane Wade doesn’t want to wait until he becomes a free agent for the Heat to spend money as he wants to wn right now. Too bad the front office isn’t listening to him. SG/SF Quentin Richardson was the best player the Heat have brought in this off-season and he’s a fringe starting player at this point in his career. The Heat have also re-signed big men Jamaal Magloire and Joel Anthony to give them help off the bench. The Heat needed them after trading Mark Blount to the Timberwolves to get Richardson and watching Jamario Moon sign with the Cavs as a free agent.
