Dwyane Wade has been amazing this season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Injuries,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Friday 9 February 2007 at 1:25 pm

With Shaq out most of the season, D-Wade has stepped up his game to a new level!  He’s pretty much kept the team in striking distance of winning the division by taking matters into his own hands on the court this season.  Wade is averaging 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.2 blocks per game this season.  He’s shooting 49% from the floor, 26.4% from three-point range and 81.9% from the free-throw line.  It’s great that Wade is such a good free throw shooter because he gets there as much as any player in the NBA.  He should save the three-pointers for the other guards and Jason Kapano though.

The Heat kept the Celtics reeling with their defense as they held the Celtics to 32% shooting from the floor as a team.  Dwyane Wade led the way with another excellent game for the Heat.  He scored 30 points, snatched 6 rebounds, dished out 9 assists and stole the ball 3 times.  Jason Kapano had a solid game with 19 points.

The lone Heat rookie left is Chris Quinn

Blogged under Injuries,Rookie Reports by Nothing but Net on Saturday 3 February 2007 at 8:48 pm

The Heat only have one rookie left after cutting Robert Hite to make room for Eddie Jones on the roster.  Quinn undoubtedly will be the 12th man on the Heat roster.  He’s the third string point guard and rarely gets to play.  He’s played in 25 games and is averaging 7.5 minutes, 2.3 points, 0.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists.  He had a reputation of being a good shooter but he’s not showing that in the NBA.  Quinn is only hitting 31.3% from the floor and only 24.1% from three point range.

The Heat bring back Eddie Jones

Blogged under Big Heat News,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Friday 2 February 2007 at 12:44 pm

The Miami Heat signed Eddie Jones to a contract for the rest of the season yesterday.  Jones played in 29 games for the Memphis Grizzlies this season but he wasn’t playing well for them which led to his release earlier in the week.  Jones has averaged 5.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists so far this season.  He’s only shot 37.7% from the floor this season.

Jones has played five seasons for the Heat covering 352 games.  In those games, Jones averaged 16.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game.  The Heat just want Jones to provide outside shooting and defense off of the bench.  This was a good signing for the Heat because the bench has been under performing this season.

To make room for Jones the Heat cut undrafted rookie guard Robert Hite.  Hite was a local boy as he played his college ball for the Miami Hurricanes.  He played in 12 games this season and averaged 4.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 11.3 minutes per game.

The Heat pull out a 92-89 victory over the Cavaliers in Miami

Blogged under Game Recaps,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Friday 2 February 2007 at 12:29 pm

The Heat had a huge 4th quarter that propelled them to victory as they outscored the Cavs 34-23!  The Heat also beat the Cavs on the boards as they outrebounded them 44-32.  Dwyane Wade was the star of the show.  Wade outscored the Cavs 24-23 in the 4th quarter by himself!!!!  Wade wound up with 41 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots!  He also hit an amazing 23 of 24 free throws!  The only bad thing about the game for Wade was that he turned the ball over an amazing 12 times.   Shaquille O’Neal started and he scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.

The Heat improved to 21-25 on the season with this win.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270201014
