Blogged under Bloglockers,Game Recaps,Injuries by alleyoop on Tuesday 27 February 2007 at 12:06 pm

The Heat just didn’t have enough firepower on the offensive end to get a win last night.  Jason Kapono led the way for the Heat with 24 points.  Shaquille O’Neal also had a decent game with 20 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Heat turned up the defense and held the Cavs to 36% shooting from the floor and that’s why they won today.  Shaquille O’Neal led the way for the Heat with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists.  Jason Kapano had a rough day shooting the ball (6 of 18) but he still wound up with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The Heat never had a chance last night in their first game without Dwyane Wade.  The Heat didn’t play any defense as the Mavericks hit 54.2% of their shots from the floor.  The Heat were trailing 93-63 at the start of the 4th quarter when the Mavericks called off the dogs.  Shaquille O’Neal led the way for the Heat with 17 points and 8 rebounds.  James Posey had a solid game off of the bench with 17 points and 4 rebounds.

Dwyane Wade to miss at least six weeks

Blogged under Big Heat News,Bloglockers,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Thursday 22 February 2007 at 4:13 pm

Dwyane Wade will miss at least six weeks after dislocating his left shoulder in last night’s game against the Houston Rockets.  Wade is the #3 scorer in the NBA as he was averaging 28.8 points per game this season.  He also was averaging 5.0 rebounds, 6.4 assists. 2.1 steals and 1.3 blocks per game this season.  He is impossible to replace and the Heat only have a 16-24 record since Dwyane Wade entered the league in games that he did not play in.  The Heat will have a hard time making the playoffs now unless some of their underachieving veterans pick up their games in a big way.

The Heat didn’t play any defense last night as the Rockets shot 50.6% from the floor and that’s why Miami lost.  Dwyane Wade was injured in the 4th quarter and he still wound up with 27 points, 3 rebounds and 9 assists.  Shaquille O’Neal had his best game of the season, by far, with 20 points and 16 rebounds.

The Miami Heat end the first half of the season blazing

Blogged under Bloglockers,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 20 February 2007 at 5:51 pm

The Miami Heat won 7 of their last 10 games before the All-Star break to improve to 26-26 on the season.  They now hold the #8 seed in the Eastern Conference and are only 1/2 a game behind the Orlando Magic for the #7 spot.  They also now have the Washington Wizards in their sites as they are in third place in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference, but they are only 4 games behind the Wiz.  The one area that has really hurt the Heat this season is the point guard position, so the Heat have been scouring the trade market.  Jason Williams has been banged up all season and he hasn’t been near the player he was last year.  It also appears that Gary Payton is nearing the end of his Hall-of-Fame career as he has not stepped up.  If the Heat trade for a decent point guard……look out!  Shaq is back and the Heat looks like they will be a fast riser in the Eastern Conference in the second half of the season.

The Heat smoke the Trailblazers 104-85 in Miami

The Heat shot an amazing 55.7% from the floor as a team last night and that’s why they won.  Dwyane Wade had an awesome game with 35 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocked shots.  Udonis Haslem backed Wade up with 12 points and 4 rebounds.

The Heat need Gary Payton to step up

Blogged under Bloglockers,Injuries,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 13 February 2007 at 4:42 pm

The Miami Heat really need Gary Payton to step up and run the offense with Jason Williams hurtin.  Payton has been starting in Williams’ place but it seems as if he’s lost his shooting touch.  He’s only hitting 39.1% from the floor and 65% from the free throw line and that will not get it done for the Heat.  In 23.9 minutes per game, Payton is only averaging 5.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game and the Heat need much more than that.  Williams will probably be banged up all season long, so Payton will get big minutes even when J-Will is healthy.  If the Heat don’t get decent production at the point guard spot, they will not be able to defend their World Title this season.

The Heat whack the Spurs 100-85 in Miami

The Heat shot an impressive 52.8% from the floor on their way to an impressive victory yesterday.  Dwyane Wade led the way for the Heat with 26 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 blocked shots and a steal.  Shaquille O’Neal scored 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in only 25 minutes on the floor.

The Heat get punished 103-79 by the Cavaliers in Cleveland

Blogged under Bloglockers,Game Recaps,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Saturday 10 February 2007 at 12:53 am

The Heat never really had a chance last night in Cleveland.  The Cavs outrebounded the Heat 49-37 and appeared to just want the game more than the Heat did.  Dwyane Wade still had a solid game with 27 points, 7 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.  Shaquille O’Neal had a decent game with 14 points and 7 rebounds.
